At Faithful Friends we have installed a specially-built pet cremator. We chose this option because we know that when people
want their pets cremated individually, they do not want other pets in the cremator at the same time. Using a standard human
cremator - which is several time the size of ours - it would not have been economical to cremate pets singlly.
It would have been necessary to place several pets in together and divide the space using dividers, as we have found some other pet
crematoriums doing.

Our cremator is designed for the cremation of pets, and although it is small it is large enough for the bigger dogs
such as great danes.
The process of cremation is controlled automatically by a computer. These pictures show the cremator's control box. The
plate on the front identifies it as a Pet Cremator.
The heat source for the cremation is LPG, providing heat to two chambers. The lower chamber holds the pet while the upper chamber
burns the gases a second time so that there is no polution going into the atmosphere - no smoke, no odour and no noise. The lower
chamber may run at temperatures up to 1000 degrees C, while the upper one runs a little cooler.
Because we own the crematorium we are able to control the process of caring for your pet from collection of the pet through to delivery of the ashes back to you. When we guarantee that the ashes you recieve are all of your pet's ashes and nothing but your pet's ashes we are able to do so with full confidence, not relying on the assurances of a third party in the process.
To ensure the highest quality we have quality control procedures and protocols in place.
When we collect
your pet or when you bring it to us every pet is identified by a green identification tag. If we collected your pet from a vet,
the vet will have attached the tag. This tag is used to follow the process of cremation right through to the finish,
only being removed as your pet enters the crenmator chamber. It is used to identify your pet's remains when they are
removed from the cremator and stays with the ashes even when they have been placed into your choice of an urn, a sctatter bag or a box.
Our computer system tells us where in the process your pet is at any time, so it is impossible for us to lose track or to confuse your pet's remains with any other. If you have requested a paw print or a lock of hair, these will be attached to the tag to ensure their integrity. Our guarantee to you is based on this quality control system.
It will be two or three days before your pet's ashes are ready to be returned to you. The process of cremation may take several hours, depending on the type, size and weight of the pet. Once the actual burning process has been completed the ashes have to be allow to cool on a cooling tray. Once they are cool they can be prepared and placed in the appropriate container. If an urn or polished box has been ordered a name plate has to be ordered, which may not be ready until the following day. Once the ashes are ready we will phone you to make arrangements to deliver thenm to you.
